(original article appeared at Natural News) There are 2 pieces of legislation on both the Minnesota House and Senate that could make the Land of 1,000 Lakes the first in the U.S. to require that all food containing GMOs to labelled saying they have GMOs in them. If it is passed the bill which is H.F. 850 and S.F. 821 would require that food containing these GMOs have the words "Produced with Genetic Engineering" simple straight forward phrase that would help Minnesotans make better choices when it comes to purchasing food.
Following the complete fraud that was Prop. 37s defeat in California last fall, more than 20 states including Minnesota have introduced their own legislation to label GMOs. Last Week, Rep. Karen Clark of Minneapolis introduced the H.F. 850 and then a week later the second one S.F. 821 was introduced by John Marty of Roseville. First of all the House bill is more specific to labeling and the Senate bill prohibits the undisclosed sale of GM seeds and food
Rep Clark said that" It's such a basic right to know what's in the food you're eating. This legislation is really a very moderate step. It doesn't ban genetically modified ingredients. It just lets consumers know about them so they can make their own choices"
It is interesting from a state that has corporate control over agriculture, there are already efforts to stop this legislation which is not surprising in the least for example the Minnesota Farmers Union(MFU) represents a group of Minnesotan farmers who grow GMOs and has indicated their opposition to it though they do support the labeling of GMOs according to the Star Tribune.
Doug Peterson of the MFU told the Star Tribune: "Consumers want to know what's in the food they buy and some people want to know if it's got [GE ingredients]
However the major opposition to GMO labeling are the usual suspects: General Mills, Cargill, Hormel, and Land O'Lakes all based in Minnesota and given these interests have total control of the U.S. Congress, which means any attempts to do at a National level are basically next to nothing. Though with Colorado and Washington decriminalizing marijuana, it seems the best thing for Minnesota is to do what these 2 states did is to do this at the state and local levels. It will be a dog fight for sure given the corporations who were complicit in stopping Prop. 37 in California were all based in Minnesota as it turns out. General Mills, the cereal giant, spent over $1.23 million dollars to stop GMO labeling in California, is based out of Golden Valley, which just outside of Minneapolis and Minnetonka-based Cargill donated $200,000 dollars to the "No on 37" campaigns which misled and conned California voters into believing that GMO labeling would be "confusing" and raise the cost of food
So despite Minnesota's strong group of health-conscious individuals, who at the grassroots level are leading the way to label GMO in the North Star State, major food processors who use this GMOs in their products are already trying to stop this legislation from going through and the Bio-tech and pesticide companies, regardless of where in the US they are based out of, will no doubt donate tonnes of money to kill this GMO labeling legislation in Minnesota just like California.
However even though there are numerous polls showing that every single American wants GMO labeling. This is a human right to know what it is in our food and if GMOs are as safe as Big Agra and the Government claim, then they should have no issue informing consumers about their presence in the food supply
Nancy Brown of Right to Know Minnesota, who are a citizen led group leading the way to label GMOs in Minnesota stated: "Public Support for the disclosure of genetically engineered ingredients is nearly unanimous. People are shocked to find out that they're eating these foods every day without their knowledge or consent. This measure simply gives Minnesotans the information they want and need to make informed choices at the grocery store"

The Hockey stick shows a sudden warming starting 150 years and is blamed on humanity(see graph below the text) however the only problem is HUMANS ARE NOT CAUSING IT and CO2 didn't rise until much later and Phil Jones of Climategate fame attributed the 1860-1880 and 1910-1940 warming to natural causes like THE SUN!!! and there is the Q&A the BBC did with Jones basically admitting that the rise in temperatures in those 2 time periods were all do to solar activity
which means 2 things: Something radically changed in the climate system 150 years ago and 2 the hockey stick is a bogus sham
