This includes the use of radio frequency identification technology(RFID) to "make schools safer" and to know "where our students are while at a school, increase revenue and provide a general purpose "smart" id card"
In order to say go check out books at the school library, register for your classes, pay for school lunches, this so called "smart" id card is being used to track students on their every move basically so to blackmail schools into doing this, they are saying it is for "safety reasons". IN Austin, Texas (according to the article)they are already using GPS systems and RFID technology to stop students from skipping their classes when this is really preparing them for surveillance.. Over 1700 students with parental consent(in the article) have signed up for this program and will have a "mentor" to oversee their actions and the kids have to check in with this so called mentor. This is like when a criminal has to wear a tracking device on their ankle and report to their parole officer but instead these "mentors" are really there to spy on students who have not committed any sort of crime but are being targeted as "pre-criminals"... and the article points out how people are being spied on with GPS, the Internet, Traffic Cameras and etc.. and even reports how IBM is working on mind reading technology and a bar code reader that reads your DNA!!! also exposes how RFID chips are being used in Cell phones within their geographical location and this is being employed by companies like Apple, Google and Microsoft, who already illegally spy on us and send your info to the DHS(Department of Homeland Security) and law enforcement and also shows how the CIA can intercept your information and access your emails, texts and etc..
